La arquitectura como fin de un proceso: una revisión de la naturaleza de los túmulos prehistóricos sin cámaras convencionales en Asturias

Abstract

[ES] Durante el último tercio del V milenio a. de J.C. fueron erigidos en Asturias los primeros túmulos. En realidad, aquellos montículos artificiales responden, básicamente, al recubrimiento monumental de lugares ceremoniales, sellando plataformas de arcilla, pavimentos de piedra, pozos, hogueras o los restos de estructuras de madera incendiadas, vestigios diversos del locus dramatis de una imprecisa ritualidad funeraria. En su alta antigüedad y variedad formal, ausentes las cámaras mortuorias en sentido estricto, nos hablan estos túmulos herméticos tanto de su carácter autónomo en el contexto de las arquitecturas sepulcrales neolíticas, como de la inicial expresión de madurez de las sociedades agropecuarias radicadas en el N de la Península Ibérica.

[EN] The first barrows were raised in Asturias during the last third of the 5th millennium B.C. Actually, these artificial mounds basically respond to the monumental covering of ceremonial sites, sealing clay platforms, stone paving, wells, bonfires or the remains of burned wooden structures; diverse vestiges of the locus dramatis of imprecise funerary rituals. The great antiquity and formal variety of these sealed barrows, lacking in funeral chambers in the strictest sense, speak to us both of their autonomous character within the context of Neolithic burial architecture, as well as the initial expression of the maturity of the farming societies established in the North of the Iberian Peninsula.
