Reflexiones sobre el poblamiento rural altomedieval en el Norte de la Península Ibérica

Abstract

[ES] Este trabajo analiza los artículos publicados en el dossier "El poblamiento altomedieval galaico-astur-leonés: herencia prerromana, romana y visigoda", así como las investigaciones más recientes sobre dicho tema. Los considerables avances llevados a cabo en los últimos años sobre el estudio de las redes de poblamiento revelan el importante papel que esta vía tiene para el conocimiento de la sociedad altomedieval y de la formación del feudalismo en el noroeste peninsular. Sin embargo, subsisten aún numerosas incógnitas a la hora de explicar estos procesos y se advierten problemas teóricos y metodológicos que afectan a las interpretaciones ofrecidas hasta el momento, que deben ser sometidas a una reflexión crítica.

[EN] This work analyses the papers of the published dossier "The Galician- Asturian-Leonese settlement in the Early Middle Ages: pre-Roman, Roman and Visigothic heritage" and the most recent research on this topic. The great advances in the recent approach concerning on the study of the settlement patterns have made clear the irnportance of this in order to irnprove the knowledge of Early Medieval society and of the formation of feudalism in the Iberian Northwest. However, there are already a lot of questions regarding the explanation of these processes and the interpretations have some theoretical and methodological problems which are the aim of some critical reflections.
