Fortalezas Romanas do Sul de Portugal

Abstract

[ES] Algunas fortalezas de ks que ya se habló durante la última centuria han sido redescubiertas en el sur de Portugal. Las autoridades clásicas no hacen mención de acontecimientos políticos ni militares en esta parte del país. Sin embargo, este grupo de 17 fortalezas construidas durante el primer cuarto del siglo I evidencian al menos eventuales alteraciones puestas de manifiesto en las excavaciones realizadas por Manuel Maia. Este autor intenta una tipología de estos monumentos, de acuerdo con sus especiales características arquitectón'cas y las propias excavaciones arqueológicas.

[EN] Some Roman fortresses have been recently refound, in the South of Portugal. They had already been pointed out at the beguining and, again, at the end of the last century. The classical authorities do not mention any political or military events in this part of the country, during the roman period. Nevertheless, this group of 17 fortresses, built in the first quarter of the I century b.C. —as it is prooved by archeological research carried on at Manuel Maia (Mértola, Portugal)— apparently demonstrate the existence of eventual troubles. The A. tries a tipology of these monuments, according to their architectonic characteristics and to the archeological finds.
