Un texto inédito de Unamuno: El reinado social de Jesucristo

[ES] Se trata de un texto inacabado, escrito en 1898 durante la crisis cubano-filipina; texto que debería formar parte del capítulo VI del Meditaciones evangélicas. En él nos da Unamuno un cuadro del llamado «socialismo cristiano», verdadero alegato condenatorio de la guerra, del militarismo y de la patriotería sobre base evangélica, donde el reinado de Jesús, que bendice banderas para la guerra, tergiversa el concepto «no matarás». Las Meditaciones evangélicas, por otro lado, son la antesala Del sentimiento trágico.

[EN] The text in question is unfinished, written in 1898 during the Cuban-Philippine Crisis, a text a that should form part of Chapter VI of the Meditaciones evangélicas. In it, Unamuno gives us a picture of the so-called «Christian Socialism», a true condemnatory indictment of war, militarism, and jingoism based on the Gospels, where the kingdom of Jesus, which blesses flags for war, distorts the concept «Thou shalt not kill». The Meditaciones evangélicas, moreover, are the precursor to Del sentimiento trágico.
