El culto a Júpiter Optimo Máximo en el conventus emeritensis

Abstract

RESUMEN: El presente artículo propone un acercamiento al culto Iuppiter Optimus Maximus atendiendo a dos aspectos: las dedicatorias que recibe el dios en el conventus, y la onomástica y estatuto de los dedicantes. Los veintisiete exvotos recogidos permiten inferir algunos datos que caracterizan el peculiar culto que recibe IOM en este área: su expansión por los terrítoria, fuera de los municipios y colonias; la ausencia de Capitolio.; la importancia de los elementos onomásticos indígenas y de los peregrinas, etc.

ABSTRACT: This paper considers the study of the worship of Jupiter Optimus Maximus attending two aspects: on the one hand the votive inscriptions, on the other onomastic and juridical status of worshippers. Twenty-seven dedications reveal some definitive facts which distinguish the peculiar cult of IOM in this area: its expansion by terriroria out from municipio, and coloniae; the absence of Capitolia; the importance of native onomastic elements, the weight of peregrini, etc.
