Minoan Inscriptions on Libations Vessels

Abstract

Although none of the extant hypotheses concerning the language of Linear A has won general acceptance, it cannot be denied that the decades that have followed the decipherment of Linear ? have brought about considerable progress in the field. The scholars who approached the Minoan script with the phonetic values established for its Mycenaean counterpart have produced an impressive list of words (presumably, proper names and the names of commodities) which are actually identical with words encountered in Linear ? texts, especially in those of the Knossos tablets.
