Changes in the structure of employment and job in Europe 1995-2007

Abstract

[ES]El objetivo principal de esta tesis es evaluar la calidad de los empleos creados en 23 países europeos durante la expansión económica que tuvo lugar entre 1995 y 2007, utilizando un método relativamente nuevo para el estudio de los cambios estructurales en los mercados de trabajo, lo que llamamos "enfoque de puestos de trabajo". Como objetivo secundario, también vamos a tratar de contribuir a desarrollar los fundamentos teóricos de este enfoque, anclaodo en la literatura de Ciencias Sociales sobre las consecuencias del cambio en la división estructural del trabajo. Para introducir esta tesis, se realiza un breve recuento de sus orígenes.

[EN]The main objective of this thesis is to evaluate the quality of the jobs created in 23 European countries during the economic expansion that took place between 1995 and 2007, using a relatively new method for studying structural change in labour markets, which we call the “jobs approach”. As a secondary objective, we will also try to contribute to developing the theoretical foundations of this approach, anchoring it in the Social Sciences literature on the implications of change in the structural division of labour. To introduce this thesis, we will briefly recount its origins.
