Diversification strategies and firm value: causes and consequences, internacional evidence

Abstract

[ES] El interés principal de esta tesis es estudiar el comportamiento del valor empresarial causado por las estrategias de diversificación y el mismo tiempo comprender si los recursos disponibles por las compañías son usados para desarrollar actividades multi segmento o si son distribuidas en premios para los accionistas. El propósito formal es realizado en análisis de contextos internacionales tomando en cuenta posibles diferencias institucionales.

[EN] The main focus of this thesis is to study the behavior of business value caused by the diversification strategies and the same time to understand if available resources are used by companies to develop multi-segment activities or prizes are distributed to shareholders. The purpose formal analysis is performed in an international context, taking into account any institutional differences.
