La oposición a la dictadura militar y al Estado Novo (1926- 1974). La larga marcha de las izquierdas portuguesas

Abstract

RESUMEN: La finalidad del presente artículo es dar una visión sintética y global de la oposición antifascista portuguesa a la Dictadura militar (28/5 /1926) y al Nuevo Estado de Salazar (1933-1968) y de Caetano (1968-1974). Se consideran tres períodos fundamentales en este casi medio siglo de régimen autoritario: la oposición durante la época fascista (1926-1945); el período de la Guerra Fría (1949-1958) y el impacto de los años 60 y 70 en el declive del régimen bajo los gobiernos salazaristas y el fallido intento de liberalización con Caetano (1959-1974). Por último, se trata del papel de la oposición de izquierdas en la caída del régimen durante el golpe de estado militar del 25 de abril de 1974 y después de él. ABSTRACT: The purpose of the present paper consists on giving a sintetic and global view of the portuguese anti-fascist opositions to the Military Dictatorship (28/5 /1926) and the New State of Salazar (1933-1968) and Caetano (1968-1974). We consider three main periods all along this almost half-century of authoritarian regime: the opositions during the fascist era (1926-1945); the cold war period (1949-1958) and the impact of the the 60s and the 70s on the decay of the regime under the late salazarian rule and the missing essay of liberalization with Caetano (1959-1974). Finally, some discussion is made about the role of the left opositionism on the fall of the regime throught the military coup d`Etat of the 25 April 1974 and after that.
