Los Lophiodontidae (Perissodactyla, Mammalia) del Eoceno de la Cuenca del Duero (Castilla y León, España)

Abstract

[ES]En el presente trabajo se realiza un estudio sistemático de los Lophiodontidae (Perissodactyla, Mammalia) de los yacimientos del Eoceno medio de la Cuenca del Duero (Castilla y León, España). Restos pertenecientes a esta familia se han encontrado en las localidades de Casaseca, Corrales y Jambrina (parte media del Eoceno medio, MP 13-14) y en San Morales y Caenes (parte superior del Eoceno medio, MP 16). En San Morales se ha establecido la especie Lophiodon Sanmoralense nov.sp., perteneciente a las formas gigantes del género y caracterizada fundamentalmente por una especial morfología del hipoconúlido de M/3. En Casaseca existe la mayor diversidad de formas, con lophiodon cf. tapirotherium, Paralophiodon aff. isselense y una tercera forma de menor talla y escasamente documentada. Paralophiodon aff. isselense está también presente en Corrales; en este yacimiento y en Jambrina y Caenes existe material fragmentario atribuible a Lophiodontidae.

[EN]In the present paper the systematic study of the Lophiodontidae (Perissodactyla, Mammalia) of the middle Eocene sites in the Duero Basin Eocene (Castilla y León, Spain) is made. Remains belonging to this family have been found in the localities of Casaseca, Corrales and Jambrina (middle part of the middle Eocene, MP 13-14) and in San Morales and Caenes (upper part of the middle Eocene, MP 16). In San Morales has been established the spcies Lophiodon sanmoralense nov.sp., belonging to the giant forms of the genus and characterized mainly by a special morfolgy of the M/3 hipoconulid. In Casaseca occur the greatest diversity of forms, with Lophiodon cf. tapirotherium, Paralophiodon aff. isselense and a third form poorly documented of smaller size. Paralophidon aff. isselense is also present in Corrales; in this site and in Jambrina and Caenes there is fragmentary material attributable to Lophiodontidae.
