Abstract

[ES] En la costa occidental de la Península Ibérica, en Portugal, à 50 Km. al sur de Lisboa, esta la ciudad de Setúbal, cercana a la desembocadura de un río, el Sado, con un vasto estuario. A ponente esta un sierra de tipo Mediterráneo, Arrábida e, a naciente y en la otra margen del río, a sur, una grande extensión de Chaparral. La ocupación humana es precose e significativa en una región que tiene trabajos arqueológicos desde el siglo XVI. Por eso mismo es una de las áreas de Portugal que más trabajos tiene merecido, con estaciones que ejercen poderoso fascino en los investigadores, como la ciudad romana de Tróia, identificada desde el siglo XV con la antigua Caetobriga. La tesis se divide en dos partes. La primera busca desvendar las intenciones de los investigadores que han procurado la génesis e la historia de las poblaciones que ai viven, así como el papel de las instituciones que patrocinan estés estudios. Mui importante también es analizar el papel de las narrativas históricas en la construcción de la imagen colectiva. La secunda parte procura, mientras un estudio de arqueología post-medieval, observar la dinámica económica, social y mental del periodo más grande de la historia del poblado, cuando Setúbal buscaba disputar el status de la segunda ciudad más importante del país, rivalizando con el Porto. La riqueza generada en la exploración e exportación salinera, esa Edad del Oro, es después mitificada por los investigadores locales.
