[EN] A new interpretation of the aerophotograpic lineaments of the Jerte Valley which permits to get important conclusions on the tectonics of the area and of the neighbouring region is given in this paper. The fractures of the Jerte Valley are distributed according to the following systems: NE-SW (Alentejo Plasencia system), NNE-SSW (Valdastillas system), NW-SE to WNW-ESE (transverse system), and W-E -or WNW-ESE, when tilded- (Cabezuela system). All these fractures are Hercynian or Late (Hercynian in age, and were reactivated during Alpine times. However, after de Miocene, there was an almost complete lack of tectonic activity along the Plasencia fault and the Cabezuela system.
