Precisamente por ello, debemos preguntarnos cuál es y plantearnos cuál debería ser la función social que cumple el conocimiento histórico que se transmite a la sociedad. Para ello, partimos de las reflexiones de E. Hobsbawm, E.P. Thompson y J. Kocka, tres historiadores que proceden del ámbito historiográfico de la historia social y que, dada su práctica historiográfica y vital, resultan claves para desarrollar esta problemática.
