<dim:field mdschema="dc" element="description" qualifier="abstract">The objective of this article is to analyse a conception of the link between ethics and tourism that can be thought of as an alternative to the predominant one in current tourism theory. To do this, we will start from the evolutionary perspective of morality of two contemporary philosophers: Peter Singer and Joshua Greene. As it will be argued, parallel to the ethics of tourism and ethical tourism, one can also speak of a moral potentiality of mass cultural tourism, which does not arise from an application of ethical precepts to tourism, but is inherent to the latter.</dim:field>
