In Bécquer's Rimas, an idealization of women (and love) is observed as a pure and spiritual being that challenges social conventions. A romantic vision of love stands out, which is presented as a liberating and transforming force. In Madame Bovary, on the other hand, women and love are represented in a more realistic and critical way, showing how social conventions and the hypocrisy of bourgeois society can hinder personal fulfillment and true love.
