<mods:abstract>[EN]There are now many studies that claim that physical activity is very beneficial for
people's health, both physically and mentally. Numerous scientific studies support the
benefits of physical activity and the prevention of cardiovascular diseases such as
diabetes and obesity. Specifically, in recent years the number of racket sports players
has increased dramatically, especially in sports such as paddle tennis and badminton.
If we combine the rise of these racket sports and the associated fame that tennis
continues to have, with the increase in new technologies, new integrated systems are
emerging in the world of these racket sports. Some of the systems that come to mind
are the use of virtual reality applications, mobile applications or video analysis systems.
One area that has not been tackled firmly enough is the monitoring or detection of
movements and strokes during a match. This field is very interesting as it would allow
the player to be able to control the strokes he/she makes in each match or training
session he/she plays.
The developed project offers a mobile application that connects to a measuring
device for the collection of strokes during a training session or match. The mobile
application consists broadly of an event management section, similar to an agenda
where the user can write down their upcoming matches, training sessions or other
events and the application will notify them when it is time to start the event. It also has
a real-time display of the strokes the player is making.
The measuring device is based on an Arduino which is able to collect raw data
through its built-in IMU unit. This raw data is the acceleration exerted per unit of time
and the orientation in space per unit of time. Thanks to an artificial intelligence model
previously trained and added to the Arduino's own firmware, we are able to detect each
stroke made by the player. The connection between the two devices is made via
Bluetooth Low Energy.
The system also has a user control, where users must register in order to have an
account</mods:abstract>
