Esta tesis explora la influencia que las lenguas de Asia Oriental han tenido en
la lengua inglesa por medio de los préstamos léxicos a través de tres periodos clave en la
historia de la lengua inglesa: el periodo de Inglés Moderno Temprano, el periodo del
Inglés Moderno Tardío, y el periodo del Inglés Presente, comparando la variación en los
campos semánticos más relevantes y como estos cambian dependiendo de la lengua de
origen de los préstamos y del periodo en el que se incorporan a la lengua inglesa. El
objetivo de este ensayo es arrojar luz en un tema tan poco estudiado como es la influencia
de Asia Oriental en la lengua inglesa.
This thesis explores the influence East Asian languages have had on the
English language through loanwords across three key periods of the history of the English
language: the Early Modern English period, the Late Modern English period, and Present
Day English, comparing the variation in the most prominent semantic fields and how they
differ depending on the language of origin of the loanwords and the period in which they
enter the English language. This paper aims to shed light on such an under-researched
topic as is the East Asian influence on English.
