<dc:description>Empirical data that would surely have been qualified as anecdotic a decade ago are now relevant for research programs with an evolutionary approach. This could be, in our opinion, the case of a seldom reported difference favoring females in accessing color words. This study put to the test the hypothesis that lexical access to color words is easier in females.Participants were 241 males and 214 females in their second year of compulsory secondary education.Apart from color (d= -0,38, corrected for attenuation), no other category showed sex-related significant differences. Studying the connection of this result with perceptive factors is suggested.</dc:description>
