Su función estrictamente terapéutica y benéfica lo lleva a adoptar roles narrativos de ayudante. Cuando el psicoanalista adopta un rol protagonista, la lógica de la ficción dramática llevará a poner en crisis su condición heroica, a indagar en sus contradicciones vitales, y a provocarle conflictos interiores en los que la regla hipocrática que separa profesión y vida privada queda de una u otra forma vulnerada.
