[ES] Esta tesis doctoral tiene como objetivo principal el establecimiento de la
estructura lógica de las Reglas de catalogación españolas y del formato IBERMARC
bibliográfico. La aplicación del modelo analítico permitirá a su vez: ayudar a clarificar
los conceptos integrados en el diseño lógico del código; y poner de manifiesto las
anomalías dentro de las reglas y las inconsistencias en la aplicación de los principios
básicos. Todo ello irá dirigido al siguiente fin: proporcionar un esquema de referencia
claramente definido que se use para determinar cómo desarrollar y extender el código
para reflejar los nuevos soportes de información, las nuevas formas de publicación, y
los nuevos modos de difusión y acceso.
La metodología utilizada en este estudio, se deriva de las usadas en los sistemas
de desarrollo de proyectos para crear modelos de entidad-relación o modelos orientados
al objeto. Como instrumentos analíticos estos modelos se usan como base para la
identificación de entidades o de objetos claves sobre los que una organización necesita
almacenar los datos; y para la clarificación de los principios operativos de los datos
relacionados que se aplican dentro de la organización principal.
La investigación se divide en dos partes claramente diferenciadas: en la primera,
se realiza una revisión bibliográfica sobre el objeto de estudio – el registro bibliográfico
– ; mientras que en la segunda parte, se establece la estructura conceptual propiamente
dicha del código catalográfico español y del formato bibliográfico.
La primera parte consta a su vez de seis capítulos, en los que básicamente se
ofrece un panorama de los estudios que se han realizado entorno al tema de la
investigación. En el primer capítulo, se definen y establecen los conceptos claves que
hay que tener en cuenta para comprender la segunda parte del trabajo, centrándose en la
definición, estructura y función del registro bibliográfico.
En los siguientes capítulos (2, 3, 4) se realiza un análisis de las investigaciones
previas que han tratado el tema de la estructura lógica, de las entidades y de las
relaciones respectivamente.Los dos últimos capítulos están dedicados al fin último de lo que sería la
aplicación práctica del modelo entidad-relación. Es decir, la actualización y desarrollo
de las reglas deben ir encaminadas a satisfacer las necesidades informativas de los
usuarios y a la “simplificación” de los registros bibliográficos.
La segunda parte se divide a su vez en dos apartados o secciones, que presentan
la misma metodología, la misma estructura y que se corresponden con los dos anexos
finales. La función de estas secciones es analizar y comentar de modo más profundo la
aplicación del modelo entidad-relación que aparece reflejado en los anexos. La
diferencia estriba en que: la primera sección esta dedicada al análisis de las entidades y
relaciones del registro descriptivo; mientras que en la segunda el análisis se centra en la
elección y forma de los encabezamientos y referencias.
A través de los resultados obtenidos, la principal conclusión que se extrae es que
se necesita un análisis riguroso de algunos de los conceptos actualmente presentes en el
código, para adaptar éste a los vertiginosos cambios que se han producido en el entorno
catalográfico. En cuanto a las actuaciones que tienen que realizarse con respecto a la
descripción bibliográfica se encuentran: el estudio de las definiciones de clase de
material y de serie; la inclusión de los documentos que se definen en términos no
físicos; el examen de las dos categorías de publicación y la creación de atributos que
muestren la modificación que sufren los objetos a lo largo del tiempo. En lo que se
refiere a los puntos de acceso, las acciones deben encaminarse principalmente a: la
modificación del capítulo 14; la ampliación del concepto de autoría; la manifestación
de las nuevas relaciones existente; y la verificación de si la forma de cita actual es la
correcta para reflejar las relaciones obra a obra en el catálogo aprovechando las
posibilidades que nos brindan las nuevas bases de datos bibliográficas.
Esta revisión tendrá como principal aspiración satisfacer las necesidades de los
usuarios y cumplir la normativa internacional que se esta llevando a cabo en esta área.
Se sugiere utilizar el modelo desarrollado en este estudio para tal fin.
[EN] This doctoral thesis has as main objective the establishment of the logical
structure of the Spanish cataloguing Rules and the IBERMARC bibliographic format.
The application of the analytic model will allow in turn: to help to clarify the integrated
concepts in the logical design of the code; and to show the anomalies inside the rules
and the inconsistencies in the application of the basic principles. Everything will go to
directed to the following propose: to provide a clearly defined reference scheme that is
used to determine how to develop and to extend the code to reflect the new supports of
information, the new publication forms, and the new diffusion and access ways.
The methodology of this study, is derived of those used in the systems of
development of projects to create entity-relationship models or models guided to the
object. As analytic instruments these models are used like base for the identification of
entities or key objects on which an organization needs to store the data; and for the
clarification of the operative principles of the related data that are applied inside the
main organization.
The investigation is divided in two clearly differentiated parts: in the first one, it
is carried out a bibliographic revision on the study object - the bibliographic record -;
while in the second part, the properly conceptual structure of the Spanish cataloguing
code and the bibliographic format is established.
The first part consists of six chapters, in those that basically are offered a
panorama of the studies that it have been carried out about the topic of the investigation.
In the first chapter, it is defined and established the key concepts that are necessary to
keep in mind to understand the second part of the work, being focus on the definition,
structure and function of the bibliographic record.
In the following chapters (2, 3, 4) it is carried out an analysis of the previous
investigations that have treated the topic of the logical structure, of the entities and of
the relationships respectively.
The last two chapters are dedicated the main aim of what would be the practical
application of the entity-relationship model. That is to say, the upgrade and
development of the rules should serve to satisfy the informative needs of the users and
to the "simplification" of the bibliographic record.
The second part is divides in two sections that present the same methodology,
the same structure and they are corresponded with the two final annexes. The function
of these sections is to analyse and comment in a deeper way the application of the
entity-relationship model which appears reflected in the annexes. The first section is
dedicated to the analysis of the entities and relationships of the descriptive record; while
in second one the analysis is focus on the election and form of the headings and
references.
Through the obtained results, the main conclusion that is extracted is that it is
necessary a rigorous analysis of some of the current concepts present in the code, to
adapt these to the vertiginous changes that have taken place in the cataloguing
environment. The performances that have to be carried out with regard to the
bibliographic description are: the study of the definitions of material class and of series;
the inclusion of the documents that are defined in non physical terms; the exam of the
two publication categories and the creation of attributes that show the modification
which suffer the objects along the time. In what refers to the access points, the actions
should head mainly to: the modification of the chapter 14; the amplification of the
concept of responsibility; the manifestation of the existent new relationships; and the
verification of if the form of current reference is the correct one to reflect the
relationships work to work in the catalogue taking advantage the possibilities that offer
us the new bibliographical databases .
This revision will have as main aspiration to satisfy the needs of the users and to
complete the international normative that it is carrying out in this area. It is suggested to
use the model developed in this study for such an end.
