AB [ES]La iglesia de Santa María Magdalena cuenta con numerosas lagunas desde el punto de vista histórico y artístico en el actual panorama historiográfico. Un cambio de perspectiva visual del conjunto permite situarla en una posición clave dentro del panorama de la reforma gregoriana y de la propia Reconquista. Los diferentes autores que han trabajado el templo han planteado un proceso constructivo unitario desarrollado en la última década del s.XII. Ahora bien, contamos con evidencias suficientes que nos permiten cuestionar, tanto el proceso constructivo como su cronología; convirtiendo al templo en una pieza clave para la transmisión de una imagen de poder en la ciudad, durante la segunda o tercera década del mismo siglo. A su vez, este nuevo marco cronológico permite concretar un discurso de reforma vinculado a la homilética gregoriana y más ajustado a las representaciones escultóricas del templo.[EN]  From the point of view of contemporary historiography, there are gaps in the analysis of the artistic aspects of the Church of Sta. Maria Magdalena. Nevertheless, a change in the visual and historic perspective would permit to infer a central position to the ensemble in the context of the Gregorian Reform and the Reconquista. While the authors analysing the building have assumed the construction to be a sole process that took place in the last decade of the 12th century, there is enough evidence that permit to question both the characteristics of the construction and the chronology. That would imply assuming the temple as a key tool for the transmission of the image of power the city during the second and the third decade of the same century. This new chronological framework allows to solidify the Reform-related discourse, linked to the Gregorian homiletics and better fitting to the sculptural representations found in the ensemble.
