El crecimiento económico y la pobreza rural. Análisis del caso peruano 2004-2009

Abstract

[ES] La República del Perú ha experimentado un elevado y sostenido crecimiento económico durante la primera década del siglo XXI. En este periodo el Producto Interior Bruto per cápita del país crecía a tasas cercanas al 7% anuales, lo que situó a Perú entre los países latinoamericanos que mayor progreso anotaron en este aspecto. Sin embargo, al observar este proceso aparece una pregunta sobre el reparto de los frutos de dicho crecimiento entre la sociedad. Así, el objetivo de esta investigación es estudiar qué influencia ha tenido la expansión de la economía peruana sobre la mejora del bienestar de la población pobre en las zonas rurales del país. La metodología utilizada para responder la pregunta de investigación se apoya en aplicar las herramientas analíticas que permiten medir el impacto del crecimiento económico sobre la mejora del bienestar en distintos grupos dentro de una sociedad. Para los cálculos realizados en el estudio se hace uso de los microdatos para los años 2004-2009, que provienen de la Encuesta Nacional de los Hogares (ENAHO) publicada por el Instituto Nacional de Estadística e Informática de Perú (INEI).

[EN] The Republic of Peru has achieved remarkably high level of economic growth during the first decade of XXI century. During that period the Gross Domestic Product per capita of the country was growing about 7% every year, which makes Peru one of the most successful cases across Latin America in this aspect. However, by analysing this process arises the important question about the distribution of the fruits of that economic growth across the population of Peru. The main goal of this investigation is to study what impact has had the expansion of the Peruvian economy on the welfare of the poorest population in the rural areas of the country. The methodology is based on making usage of the analytical tools which allow measure the impact of economic growth on different groups inside the society. To elaborate calculations for this case study, were used the data from National Homes Survey (ENAHO) for years 2004-2009, published by National Institute of Statistics and Informatics of Peru (INEI)
