Commitment and Performance in Black South African Theatre Under Apartheid

[ES]Este artículo examina cómo la situación sociopolítica de la comunidad negra bajo el gobierno del apartheid en Sudáfrica se convirtió para los directores y actores de teatro en un compromiso y parte integral de sus trabajos dramáticos. El ensayo está dividido en dos secciones: En la primera la autora analiza el contexto socicultural y teatral desde los años sesenta hasta finales de los ochenta; y en la segunda sección, estudia las diversas técnicas utilizadas por estos artistas en sus obras teatrales.[EN] This article examines how the sociopolitical situation of the Black community under apartheid in South Africa was taken by theatre artists as a committed goal and integrated part in their theatrical expression. The essay is divided in two sections: in the first section the author discusses the sociocultural and theatrical background during the 1960s through the 1980s; and in the second she analyzes the various techniques chosen by theatre artists to perform their plays.
