Reflexiones sobre la función social de la Historia: Hobsbawm, Thompson y Kocka

Abstract

[ES]La historia cuenta cada vez con más medios para su divulgación. Precisamente por ello, debemos preguntarnos cuál es y plantearnos cuál debería ser la función social que cumple el conocimiento histórico que se transmite a la sociedad. Para ello, partimos de las reflexiones de E. Hobsbawm, E.P. Thompson y J. Kocka, tres historiadores que proceden del ámbito historiográfico de la historia social y que, dada su práctica historiográfica y vital, resultan claves para desarrollar esta problemática.

[EN]Nowadays we have more ways than ever to disseminate historical knowledge. Because of that, it is important that we carefully consider what is, and what should be, the social function that historical knowledge fulfills. This article considers the issue from the point of view of the works of E. Hobsbawm, E. P. Thompson and J. Kocka, three historians within the realm of social history who, given their historiographical practice and life story, are key in our understanding of the problem
