«Expiación», de la novela al film

Abstract

[EN]This article develops a comparative reading of British novelist Ian Mcewan’s novel Atonement, published by Jonathan Cape (Random House) in 2001, and its cinematic adaptation, released six years later (with the same title) and directed by Joe wright with a film script by Christopher Hampton. This analysis attends to the adaptation of the metafictional aspects of the novel, which thematize its process of enunciation, and which are echoed in the autoreflexive and self-conscious filmic discourse. Special attention will be paid to two transformations that the film adaptation carries out on the novelistic hipotext, and which respond to the complex temporality of the story and to its use of multiperspectivism.

[ES]En estas páginas se desarrolla el estudio comparado de la novela Expiación del escritor británico Ian Mcewan, publicada en 2001 en la editorial Jonathan Cape (Random House), y de la adaptación cinematográfica que, con el mismo título, se estrenó seis años más tarde, con la dirección de Joe wright y el guion adaptado de Christopher Hampton. el análisis atiende fundamentalmente a la traducción del componente metaficcional de la novela, que tematiza su propio proceso de enunciación y que encuentra eco en el carácter autorreflexivo y autoconsciente del discurso fílmico construido por el director británico. Se estudian, del mismo modo, dos transformaciones que la adaptación fílmica ejerce sobre su hipotexto y que responden a la compleja temporalización del relato, vinculada al recurso del multiperspectivismo.
