Giacomo Leopardi y el viaje hacia la nada. Una breve introducción filosófica

Abstract

[ES] Giacomo Leopardi, poeta y filósofo italiano de los inicios del siglo XIX, elabora una imagen del mundo que une nihilismo y titanismo para contestar a la pregunta fundamental sobre el sentido de la existencia. Un interrogante, esto, al mismo tiempo metafísico, ético y estético. En el mundo materialista de Leopardi, ya no hay un sentido trascendente de la existencia y todo lo que existe se explica en los términos de su propia existencia. La dimensión ética adquiere matices ontológicos y, como en el universo de Anaximandro, la continua repetición de formas efímeras se acompaña a una suerte de pecado ontológico que conlleva la individuación: la culpa no tiene ningún sentido trascendente, sino está implicada por el simple hecho de venir al mundo, por la misma existencia. Con la indiferencia de estas dinámicas choca el sistema de valores del ser humano, que pierde sus coordenadas jerárquicas y el propio sentido de su existencia, hundido en la nada de un ser ya sin porqué, aplastado por el peso de las mecánicas de un mundo sin dios, donde ni siquiera la belleza del arte redime. Surge de aquí un profundo sentido de lo trágico al que la única respuesta puede ser un gesto titánico, un desafío rebelde. [EN] Giacomo Leopardi, Italian poet and philosopher of the early 19th century, elaborated an image of the world blending nihilism and titanism to respond to the fundamental question on the meaning of the existence. A philosophical doubt expressing at the same time both a metaphysical, ethical and esthetical concern. In Leopardi’s materialist world, there is no more transcendent sense of the existence and every being is explained in terms of its own existence. The ethical dimension acquires ontological shades and, like in Anaximander’s universe, the continuous repetition of ephemeral forms entail a kind of ontological sin deriving from individuation: fault has not transcendent sense, while it is implied by the same birth, by the same existence. With the indifference of this dynamics collides the system of values of the human being, who loses his hierarchical coordinates and the same meaning of his existence, sunk in the nothing of a being already with no reason, burdened with the mechanics of a world without god, where not even the beauty of art redeems. From here, a deep sense of the tragic arises, to which the only possible answer is a titanic gesture, a rebellious provocation.
