Resumen
[ES]Las empresas son agentes básicos para hacer efectivo el desarrollo sostenible ya que son las principales causantes del deterioro ambiental. Además poseen los recursos y capacidades para poner en marcha las soluciones más eficientes para hacer frente a los retos medioambientales. Llegados a este punto surge la cuestión de por qué unas empresas son más activas ambientalmente que otras. En esta investigación se asume que el grado de compromiso de una empresa con la sostenibilidad depende, principalmente, de los recursos y capacidades que posee, la percepción empresarial de la cuestión ambiental y de su predisposición a innovar.
Partiendo de un contexto teórico interdisciplinar basado en la interacción entre la perspectiva de los recursos y capacidades, la economía ecológica y los estudios de ciencia, tecnología y sociedad (CTS) se propone como objetivo general de investigación el estudio de la orientación sostenible de las empresas a través de sus procesos de innovación. Este trabajo se divide en dos partes. La primera desarrolla el marco teórico en el que se apoya la segunda parte centrada en el estudio del caso. Para el análisis empírico se utiliza la base de datos PITEC donde se analizan un total de 7722 empresas españolas de media y alta tecnología desde el año 2008 al 2011.
A través del análisis de regresión logística ordinal se concluye, en primer lugar, que existen unos determinados recursos ligados al conocimiento que favorecen directamente la orientación sostenible de la innovación. Estos recursos son principalmente de carácter tácito (cualificación de los recursos humanos, acuerdos de cooperación y relevancia de las fuentes de información externa). En segundo lugar, el desempeño innovador de las empresas actúa como factor moderador de la relación entre la intensidad de los gastos de I+D interno y las fuentes de información externa sobre la orientación sostenible del proceso de innovación.
