Un paso decisivo en el camino hacia la modernidad educativa: la reforma de Jaime Móniz

Abstract

The secondary education (Liceus) under liberal system, created in 1836 by Passos Manuel government, had an irregular evolution in the 19th century with a asistematic depreciation which was translated by the withdraw of clear own purposes, focusing only instead in the access to the University. This situation was changed only in 1895 with the so-called «Reforma de Jaime Moniz». This reform has exerted influence on all sucessive transformations in secondary education till the third decade of the 20th century and may be considered the turning point to modernity of this schooling level by the introduction of adequate methodologies and the organic approach characterized by the interrelation existing between the different instructions years, disciplines and curricula subjects.

La educación secundaria (Liceo) bajo el sistema liberal, creada en 1836 por el gobierno de Passos Manuel, tuvo una irregular evolución en el siglo XIX con un deterioro sistemático que se tradujo en la ausencia de su sentido propio, acentuando en su lugar el acceso a la Universidad. La situación sólo llegó a cambiar en 1895 con la llamada «Reforma de Jaime Monis»: Esta reforma ha ejercido su influencia en todas las sucesivas reformas de la educación secundaria hasta la tercera década del siglo XX y se puede considerar el punto de enlace hacia la modernidad de este segundo nivel gracias a la introducción de metodologías adecuadas y de una visión orgánica por la interrelación que existe entre los diferentes programas anuales, disciplinas y temarios.
