Resumen
[ES]Dado que no solo se espera que la EPOC constituya la tercera causa de mortalidad a nivel mundial, sino la pérdida de calidad de vida relacionada con la salud, se deben continuar e intensificar los esfuerzos en las investigaciones genéticas, para dilucidar posibles factores predisponentes de esta enfermedad y descubrir posibles dianas terapéuticas que permitan tratamientos más individualizados.
La hipótesis de nuestro trabajo fue determinar si los polimorfismos de los genes de las citocinas IL-4 (rs2070874) e IL-8 (rs4073) y de los genes CHRNA5(rs16969968) y GSTM1 (ausencia o presencia del gen) pueden modificar la susceptibilidad a desarrollar EPOC en pacientes fumadores. Se realizó un estudio de casos (EPOC) y controles (no EPOC) entre pacientes fumadores.
