[EN]Scientific and technological development in recent decades has led to an improvement in the quality of life of the population, as a result of which life expectancy has increased. This increase brings with it a series of natural changes inherent to human beings and to the ageing process, which may predispose people to develop diseases, including neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer.
Ageing implies the need to study how to reduce the cognitive deterioration linked to the normal ageing process, and the importance of cognitive reserve, which is understood as the brain's capacity to better withstand the effects produced by the pathology of dementias, considering it to be an innate ability or one acquired through lived experiences.
Identifying the variables that influence the reserve, and knowing how to modify them by acting on the way of life, we have proposed an intervention programme that aims to prevent or delay the onset of disease in people at risk, acquiring healthy lifestyle habits through health education, and carrying out a follow-up in the primary care nursing practice.
