Resumen
The present work shows a novel approach for the acquisition of specific
competences related to the design of low enthalpy geothermal systems in
the bachelor’s degree in Mining and Energy Engineering by the analysis of the
different possible outcomes in the design and construction of shallow geothermal
installations. The proposed approach aims to highlight for future engineers the
difficulties that must be considered when facing the design of these systems. It
will also help university students to contextualize the theoretical knowledge and to
better understand and manage the challenges they will have to face in their future
professional career. The final goal of this methodology is clearly to contribute
to future sustainable development by teaching future energy professionals at the
university level the appropriate procedures to achieve the progressive expansion
of these energy systems. From the methodology exposed in this research, it is
expected that future engineers will be able to address the energy challenges that
will foreseeably appear in the outcoming sustainable context.
