Resumen
Several oral poetry genres like stories, legends, songs and proverbs have inspired the main masterpieces of canonical literature and are their cultural background, which is predominantly masculine; however, men as well as women have been transmitting through voice and memory a kind of knowledge so ancient as enigmatic too. Besides, tales, melodies and common sayings have been the only way of learning and having fun for modest people away from literary texts; that is the case for dominant culture to keep some more or less unassailable limits, through civil and religious authorities. Under these structures of domination, the access to reading and writing was late for women and their recognition in canonical literature continue to be essential nowadays. This brief paper attempts to recognize the role of woman at oral poetry and we are interested in studying female characters in romances and songs.
