Langston Hughes’ Experimental and Revolutionary Theatre: “Water Drawn from the Well of the People” and “Given Back to Them in a Cupo f Beauty”

[ES] Sólo recientemente el teatro de Langston Hughes ha recibido la misma atención que ha recibido siempre su poesía. Las obras teatrales de Hughes son realmente revolucionarias. Hughes’s plays can be considered highly revolutionary, having taken their main issues and content from the African American tradition and from the black community’s experience and social problems. Morevoer, breaking with past stereotypes about blacks, Hughes defended the need to create an authentic black theatre away from white imposed models and experimented with new theatrical forms and styles that would set the basis for the African American revolutionary theatre of the 1960s.
