[EN] It has been only recently that the theatre of Langston Hughes has begun to received the same attention and critical analysis previously received by his poetry. Hughes’s plays can be considered highly revolutionary, having taken their main issues and content from the African American tradition and from the black community’s experience and social problems. Morevoer, breaking with past stereotypes about blacks, Hughes defended the need to create an authentic black theatre away from white imposed models and experimented with new theatrical forms and styles that would set the basis for the African American revolutionary theatre of the 1960s.es_ES
