El canon de Simón García. Entre el rito y la geometría

Abstract

[EN] The aim of this research is analysing the layouts that Simón García, an obscure 17th century author from Salamanca, included on his book ‘Summary of architecture and symmetry of the Temples, in accordance with the measurement of the human body, with some geometrical demonstrations’ (1681). Some authors have tried, more or less successfully, to prove Simón García’s ‘layout of a 5 aisles temple’, at the ground plan of a few of our cathedrals. We pretend, in short, to work out both the original layout and its recent implementations, throw the study of some historical buildings.
