Encuadernaciones bodonianas

Abstract

Prof. Cátedra studies the bodonian bindings of the Royal Library in his historical context. The majority are representative pieces of the artistic binding of Parma, by the workshop that was working for the printer and typographer Giambattista Bodoni, and for Parma’s Biblioteca Palatina, between 1778 and 1818. Several types of bodonian bindings are analyzed, some of which are defined by the first time from unpublished documentation, specially those of Domenico Guarnaschelli, one of the members of the workshop parmense. The art of binding is studied in relation by his target high place, members of the Royal Household, and by the bibliographical collecting of the Spain of the 18th century. Estudio de las encuadernaciones bodonianas de la Real Biblioteca en su contexto histórico. La mayoría son piezas de la encuadernación artística de Parma, del taller que trabajaba para el impresor y tipógrafo Giambattista Bodoni y en el ámbito de la Biblioteca Palatina de Parma, entre 1778 y 1818. Se analizan las varias tipologías de encuadernaciones bodonianas, algunas de las cuales se definen por primera vez, a partir de documentación inédita, y se da a conocer por primera vez el nombre de uno de los integrantes del taller parmense, Domenico Guarnaschelli. Las encuadernaciones se estudian en relación con su alto destino, miembros de la Casa Real, y con el coleccionismo bibliográfico de la España del siglo XVIII.
