El sueño de la sociedad del espectáculo

Abstract

[ES]Debord consideraba que los modos de producción capitalista habían invertido la realidad hasta convertirla en imagen, de forma que cualquier tipo de interacción tenía lugar en el terreno de lo falso. De visión materialista, buscó el modo de superar las que concibió como sociedades espectaculares, en las que el ser humano se reducía a mero espectador, mediante situaciones que rompiesen con lo establecido y produjesen un medio superior. La finalidad era acabar con el estatismo de aquel momento y recuperar el movimiento dialéctico de la historia, donde la creatividad, y con ella el arte y especialmente el cine, tenían un papel protagonista.

Debord considered that capitalist modes of production had inverted reality until it becomes an image, so that any type of interaction takes place on a false terrain. From a materialistic view, he sought ways of overcoming those societies conceived as spectacular where the human being had been reduced to a mere spectator, by situations that would break with the established order and would produce a superior meaning. The aim was to end the statism of the time and recover the dialectical movement of history where creativity, art and especially film, had a starring role.
