La orden europea de detención y entrega en la Unión Europea: superando la extradición

Abstract

[ES] El presente trabajo versa sobre la cooperación penal internacional, especialmente, en el seno de la Unión Europea. Se trata de un acercamiento, sobre todo, a la transformación y evolución que ésta está sufriendo en los últimos tiempos, y, para entender mejor esta cuestión, centro mi estudio en un instrumento importantísimo, la orden europea de detención y entrega, que sustituye al antiguo mecanismo de la extradición entre los Estados miembros de la Unión Europea, y en el avance que su adopción ha supuesto en materia de cooperación y colaboración entre los distintos Estados.

[EN] The present essay deals with the concept of international cooperation in the field of criminal law, specifically, within the European Union. It is an approach, above all, to the transformation and evolution that this cooperation is experiencing in the recent years, and, to understand this better, I focus my study on a really important instrument, the european order for arrest and handing over, which replaces, between member states, the old mecanism of extradition, and also on the progress that its adoption has carried out in the sense of a better cooperation and collaboration between the different states.
