Perspectiva constitucional de la igualdad: no discriminación por razón de sexo

Abstract

[ES] La igualdad entre hombres y mujeres es un derecho Constitucional que todos debemos respetar. Son muchas las acciones que se han puesto en marcha para favorecer la igualdad efectiva entre ambos sexos, pero actualmente no existe igualdad real entre hombres y mujeres. Y es que la mayor muestra de desigualdad entre hombres y mujeres es la existencia de casos de violencia de género, que son la prueba definitiva de que aún existen graves conductas discriminatorias hacia la mujer. Tenemos por delante un gran reto: lograr la igualdad. Esta tarea es difícil, por lo que es necesario ver qué logros hemos conseguido, hasta dónde tenemos que llegar y, centrándonos más en el terreno que nos ocupa, qué se ha hecho y qué se puede hacer desde el ordenamiento jurídico.

[EN] Equality between men and women is a constitutional right and we all need to respect it. Many actions have been launched to promote the effective equality between the sexes, but nowadays this is not yet a reality. The clearest proof can be found in the existence of gender-based violence. This means that serious discrimination towards women still remains. We have a big challenge ahead of us and it is to achieve equality. Even being a difficult task, it is still necessary to review the goals we have reached, how much is left to do,what is more important to focus on and what is still to be done regarding our legal system.
