Resumen
[EN]This Master’s Thesis aims to analyze the use of the internet and smartphones among the adolescents.
Currently there is a debate about whether it is correct or not to talk about “addiction” to internet or Cell
Phone, although there is no doubt about the fact that a wrong use of these ICTs may have a repercussion
in the health in several ways. A study was made in diverse High Schools in Cantabria on which
participated 297 students with ages within 13 and 17 years old. This investigation tried to describe the
habits and use patterns of the ICTs as well as exploring the relationship between this and an internet and
cell phone problematic use and with the health. It was found that a 10,1% and a 4% of the participants
showed a problematic use of the internet and cellphones respectively, that girls had more internet and
cell phone problematic use, that a clinic use of internet and cellphone was related to depression and
anxiety and that there are some habits or behaviors that predict the clinic use such as the use of
WhatsApp, the daily use of internet, the daily use of cellphone for calling, the monthly cellphone bill
and a lower age.
