Bulimia nerviosa y adicción a internet

Abstract

[ES] Objetivo: El propósito es analizar estudios que abordan la relación entre Bulimia Nerviosa y Adicción a Internet. Así como conocer si está presente la impulsividad en el origen y en el desarrollo de cada uno de estos trastornos. Método: Se realizó una búsqueda en PsycINFO, Psicodoc, Pubmed, MEDLINE y Google Académico durante los meses de Septiembre y Octubre de 2016. La muestra consta de 29 artículos publicados en los últimos 10 años. Resultados: Existen características comunes que relacionan la Bulimia Nerviosa y la Adicción a Internet. Por una parte podría deberse a una imagen corporal negativa. Sin embargo, se ha encontrado que la impulsividad es un factor desencadenante en ambos trastornos. Además, las emociones negativas juegan un papel muy importante ya que promueven la pérdida de autocontrol en la conducta. Conclusiones: Los datos sugieren la existencia de relación entre ambos trastornos, así como la importancia de la impulsividad en su naturaleza. Sin embargo, son necesarias más investigaciones para poder obtener datos más concluyentes sobre las causas de esta relación con el fin de poder encontrar más vías de cara a la prevención y al tratamiento de ambos trastornos. Implicaciones prácticas: Programas donde se trabaje la regulación de las emociones, la imagen corporal y el uso adecuado de internet, podrían ser eficaces para reducir, detener o evitar el desarrollo de estos trastornos. [EN] Objective: The aim of this study is to compile existing information about the relationship between Bulimia Nervosa and Internet Addiction and to know if the impulsivity is present in each of these disorders and its possible mediating role. Method: It was performed a review of 29 articles published in the last 10 years. These works were found in PsycINFO, Psicodoc, Pubmed, MEDLINE and Google Scholar during the months of September and October 2016. Results: There are a relationship between Bulimia Nervosa and Internet Addiction. On the one hand it could be due to a negative body image. However, it has been found that impulsivity is a trigger factor in both disorders. In addition, negative emotions play a very important role as they promote the loss of self-control in the behavior of people. Conclusions: The data suggest the existence of relationship between the two disorders, as well as the importance of impulsivity in nature. However, more research is needed to obtain more conclusive data about the causes of this relationship in order to find new ways to make the prevention and treatment of both disorders. Practical implications: Programs where work regulation of emotions, body image and proper use of the Internet about, could be effective to reduce, stop or prevent the development of these disorders.
