Adaptación Cultural de la Escala de la Conducta Repetitiva (Repetitive Behaviors Scale- Revised)

Abstract

[ES] Introducción: En la actualidad las investigaciones científicas sobre el Trastorno del Espectro Autista (TEA) están teniendo mucho auge debido a su alta prevalencia. Sobre todo, lo relacionado con el diagnóstico temprano del TEA, aunque se estudie mucho, aún se están desarrollando las herramientas clínicas necesarias para evaluar y diagnosticar. Por esta razón, creemos que es importante contar con un instrumento puntual que evalúe y abarque un amplio rango de conductas relacionadas con los niños con TEA. Nuestro foco de atención será específicamente hacia las conductas restrictivas y repetitivas (CRR) características principales de este trastorno. Objetivo: Desarrollar la adaptación y modificación de la escala The Repetitive Behaviors Scale – Revised (RBS-R) de Kristen Lam y Michael Aman (Lam, 2004) al idioma español para que posteriormente está pueda ser validada dentro de lo que es la población española. Metodología: Para lograr esto se realizó una traducción inversa la cual consiste en traducir la escala original en su idioma fuente que en este caso es el inglés al idioma deseado, el español. Se conservó el diseño original de la escala, sin embargo, debido a las recientes modificaciones en el DSM-5para diagnosticar este trastorno se decidió añadir una escala más que abarcara el aspecto sobre las respuestas sensoriales inusuales, aspecto que no se incluye en la escala RBS – R original. Conclusiones: Se estima que la validación futura de esta escala servirá para promover la salud de los pacientes con TEA, ya que como psicólogos generales sanitarios esta nos permitiría intervenir de forma precoz impidiendo que las CRR se sigan reforzando o incrementando. A su vez nos servirá para cuantificar y medir la eficacia de nuestras intervenciones. [EN] Introduction: Scientific research on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is currently booming due to its high prevalence. Most importantly, the early diagnosis of ASD, although much is being studied, it is still under developing clinical tools to asses and diagnose. For this reason, we believe that it is important to have a specific instrument that evaluates and covers a wide range of behaviors related to children with ASD. Our focus will be specifically on the restrictive and repetitive behaviors (RRB), which are main features of this disorder. Objective: our aim is to develop the adaptation and modification of The Repetitive Behaviors Scale - Revised (RBS-R) by Kristen Lam and Michael Aman (Lam, 2004) to the Spanish language so that it can subsequently be validated within the Spanish population. Methodology: To achieve this, a reverse translation was performed, which consists of translating the original scale into its source language, which in this case is English to the desired language, Spanish. Even though the original design of the scale was retained, due to the recent modifications in the DSM - 5 to diagnose this disorder it was decided to add a scale that would cover the aspect about the unusual sensorial responses, aspect that is not included in the original RBS - R. Conclusions: It is estimated that the future validation of this scale will serve to promote the health of patients with ASD, since as general health psychologists this would allow us to intervene early, preventing the RRB from being further reinforced or increased. In turn it also, will serve to quantify and measure the effectiveness of our interventions.
