[EN]This minor dissertation aims to show the importance of autonomy and cooperation within the CLIL approach. The main features of this integrative approach have been introduced together with a comparative study of two Primary schools (one Spanish and one British) so as to examine the extent of their implementation of CLIL. Thus, through both a checklist of CLIL indicators and the qualitative analysis of and reflection on collected evidences, a series of conclusions have been drawn which allow us to take advantage of key aspects of an effective teaching of curricular content in English as L1 in UK primary school settings. Both linguistic and methodological elements featured by autonomy and cooperation at their core are highlighted, many of which are potentially transferable to the bilingual sections of primary schools within the Spanish system of education where English is taught simultaneously as a subject (L2) and as the vehicle to teach other non-linguistic subjects, which can make an effective contribution to the improvement of bilingual education in Spain.
