Ŷanà zahrat al-ās fī bināʾ madīnat Fās : aproximación a una obra histórica del siglo XIV

Abstract

[ES]En este trabajo se presenta una traducción del primer capítulo de los dos que componen la obra Ŷanà zahrat al-ās fī bināʾ madīnat Fās, escrita por Abū al-Ḥasan ʿAlī al-Ŷaznāʾī en el siglo XIV. La historia en Zahrat al-ās comienza con la llegada de los bereberes al norte de África, y continúa hasta el año 1365, fecha aproximada de la conclusión de la obra. Pese a su gran contenido histórico, no se trata únicamente de una obra sobre la historia de la ciudad de Fez, sino que también contiene aspectos geográficos, jurídicos, hagiográficos, médicos, arquitectónicos, tecnológicos y religiosos en general, además de descripciones de algunos funcionarios y sabios de la época. Zahrat al-ās es, junto a al-Anīs al-muṭrib bi-rawḍ al-qirṭās fī aḫbār mulūk al-Maġrib wa tarīḫ madīnat Fās (obra del año 1326), el único texto superviviente de todos los que hablan de la ciudad de Fez de la época. El medio siglo que las separa hace de Zahrat al-ās una obra imprescindible para el estudio de la ciudad Fez. [EN]In this work, we introduce a translation of the first chapter of the two that make the book Ŷanà zahrat al-ās fī bināʾ madīnat Fās, written by Abū al-Ḥasan ʿAlī al-Ŷaznāʾī in the 14th century. The history in Zahrat al-ās starts with the arrival of the Berbers to the north of Africa and continues up to the year 1365, approximate date of the conclusion of the book. Despite its great historical content, it is not only a work about the history of city of Fes but it also contains geographical, juridical, hagiographical, medical, architectonical, technological and religious in general, besides the descriptions of some civil servants and wise men of the epoch. Zahrat al-ās is, with al-Anīs al-muṭrib bi-rawḍ al-qirṭās fī aḫbār mulūk al-Maġrib wa tarīḫ madīnat Fās (book dated in 1326) the only survived book of those dealing with the city of Fes in this period. The half century that spreads between the two books makes of Zahrat alās an indispensable publication for the study of the city of Fes.
