El ribāṭ y la enseñanza en el Occidente Islámico: reflexiones acerca de sus funciones educativas y militaristas

Abstract

[ES]El ribāṭ es una institución militar y espiritual. El ribāṭ nace con la voluntad de defender las costas del imperio islámico, ante los ataques enemigos. A su función original militar, se le añadió la función espiritual convirtiéndose en un lugar de retiro para una comunidad, formada por los murābiṭūn. En un primer momento los murābiṭūn realizaban prácticas ascéticas a nivel individual. La función del ribāṭ evolucionará y el factor colectivo en la realización del ribāṭ y de las prácticas ascéticas será esencial. En el mundo magrebí el ribāṭ adquirió características propias, debido a su contexto político y social. La labor ascética y el sufismo se desarrolló en el Magreb. En esta región destaca la contribución a la islamización que desarrolló y a la enseñanza de los principios religiosos a los bereberes. Al-Andalus fue la última región del Occidente islámico donde nació esta institución. [ES]The ribāṭ is a military and spiritual institution. The ribāṭ was born with the will to protect the coasts of the Islamic empire, facing the enemy attacks. To its original military function, the spiritual function was also added, becoming a place of retreat for a community, formed by the murābiṭūn. At the beginning, the murābiṭūn made ascetic practices individually. The function of the ribāṭ evolved and the collective factor was added and was essential for the ascetic practices. In the Maghrebi region, the ribāṭ acquired its own characteristics, due to its political and social context. The ascetic work and Sufism was developed in the Maghreb. In this region the contribution to the Islamization that he developed and the teaching of the religious principles to the Berbers stands out.
