Le tintorette: la educación femenina renacentista en la narrativa de Melania G. Mazzucco

Abstract

The social role of women and their access to formal education within the context of Humanism and Renaissance will be the core idea of this piece of work, in which some of the aspects of the 2008 novel La lunga attesa dell’angelo by Melania G. Mazzucco will be analysed. The novel tells the story of Tintoretto and his family, pointing out the relationship of the Maestro with his daughters and sons and the education he provided to them, particularly to the former. Other important aspects of this story can be found on Jacomo Tintoretto & i suoi figli. Storia di una familia veneziana, an essay also written by Mazzucco and published one year later that widens these questions from the historical point of view. This article focuses on the author’s narrative work about the life of Tintoretto’s daughters, as well as some other contemporary women who used the same nickname to take advantage of the fame of the painter.

El papel social de la mujer y su acceso a la educación en el contexto del humanismo y la sociedad renacentista será el eje en torno al cual girará este trabajo, a través del análisis de algunos aspectos de La lunga attesa dell’angelo, obra narrativa publicada en 2008 por Melania G. Mazzucco, que novela la biografía de Tintoretto y su familia, destacando la relación con sus hijos y la educación que el artista les ofreció, en particular a las mujeres, así como de Jacomo Tintoretto & i suoi figli. Storia di una familia veneziana, ensayo que retoma estas cuestiones publicado un año después. El estudio se centra en la representación narrativa que la autora hace de la vida de las hijas del pintor veneciano y de otras mujeres de más difícil colocación que utilizaron el nombre y la fama del pintor./n
