Factores angiogénicos para el diagnóstico y el pronóstico de la preeclampsia

Abstract

Hoy en día, se reconoce que la preeclampsia (PE) no es una enfermedad única, sino que debe ser entendida como un síndrome, en el que existe una falta de funcionalidad y ya no se trata de buscar una explicación directa con la hipertensión o la disfunción renal de las gestantes. Sin embargo, vamos a ver cómo los criterios actuales del diagnóstico de la PE basados en la hipertensión y la proteinuria conducen a reconocer solo la punta del iceberg que abarca este tema, donde a partir de los últimos años se ha llegado mediante investigación a ver la importancia que tienen los biomarcadores angiogénicos en esta patogenia. Resulta fundamental conocer estos conceptos sobre los factores reguladores para poder llevar a cabo las nuevas técnicas que se presentan y que han tenido un papel muy relevante durante la última década para la mejora en el manejo de los trastornos hipertensivos, la orientación pronóstica y la búsqueda de tratamientos eficaces.

Nowadays, it is recognized that preeclampsia (PE) is not a unique disease, but must be understood as a syndrome, in which there is a lack of functionality and it is no longer a matter of seeking a direct explanation for hypertension or renal dysfunction in pregnant women. However, we are going to see how the current criteria for the diagnosis of PE based on hypertension and proteinuria lead to recognizing only the tip of the iceberg that covers this topic, where the research, in recent years has been carried out to see the importance of angiogenic biomarkers in this pathogeny. It is essential to know these concepts about regulatory factors to carry out the new techniques that are presented and which have had during the last decade a very relevant role for the improvement in the management of hypertensive disorders, prognostic orientation and the search for effective treatments.
