Tendencia suicida: una cuestión de género en España

Abstract

[ES] El suicidio se considera uno de los problemas más graves de salud pública a nivel mundial, por su elevada y creciente tasa de incidencia en los últimos años. Este fenómeno afecta a una parte considerable de la sociedad. Por ello, el objetivo del trabajo es la ampliación de los conocimientos acerca del suicidio desde una perspectiva psicológica, sociológica, jurídica y médico-legal, así como la implicación de los roles de género en la conducta suicida del individuo. Al llevar a cabo la investigación, se ha realizado una revisión sistemática exploratoria de artículos científicos y estadísticas actualizadas aportadas por el Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE) tanto del acto suicida como de algunas de sus posibles causas – consumo de alcohol, enfermedades mentales, desempleo, la asistencia médica especializada y los métodos utilizados para cometerlo –. La bibliografía y datos consultados sostienen que los varones se suicidan más que las mujeres, pero que ellas lo intentan más frecuentemente. Se afirma la necesidad de una actuación preventiva y eficaz en todos los ámbitos de la vida y concienciar a la sociedad sobre el significado de tal acto, acabando con su estigmatización.

[EN] Suicide is considered one of the most serious health problems around the world, because of its high and increasing incidence rate in last few years. This event affect to significant part of the society. Therefore, the main objetive of this project is to investigate knowledges related to suicide from a psychological, sociological, legal and medical-legal perspective. As well as the implication of gender roles in the behaviour of the individual. A systematic exploratory review about the previous literature was done in order to design the research. As well as reviews of updated statistics from Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE), about suicide an some of its eventual causes – alcohol consumption, mental illness, unemployment, specialized medical assistance and the methods used to perpetrate it –. The bibliography and statistics consulted studies reveal that men commit suicidal more than women. However, women’s suicide attempts are more frequently than men. This prove the need of preventive and effective actions in all areas of life, as well as the society’s awareness of suicide trying to stop its stigmatization.
