Alegoría física de los amores de Ares y Afrodita en época Comnena

Abstract

El siguiente Trabajo de Fin de Grado se propone hacer un análisis exhaustivo de una interpretación física del mito de Ares y Afrodita que se integra en la Odisea. Tal exégesis se sitúa en época Comnena y fue realizada por el intelectual bizantino Juan Tzetzes (1110-1180) en su obra Allegoriae Odysseae. Se examinarán las intertextualidades con otras obras del autor así como con otros intérpretes, su visión cosmológica, ciertos aspectos relativos a los estudios de género y el nuevo tratamiento de los dioses, además del estilo. Con ello, se pretende saber cómo se reelaboró la materia homérica en época bizantina.

The present Final Degree Project aims to analyse exhaustively a physic interpretation of the Ares and Aphrodite’s myth which is integrated in the Odyssey. That exegesis is situated in the Komnenos period and was written by the Byzantine intellectual John Tzetzes (1110-1180) in his work Allegoriae Odysseae. We will examine the intertextualities both with other author’s works and with other interpreters, his cosmological conception, some aspects relating to genre’s studies and the new treatment of the gods, as well as his style. By doing so, we intend to know how the Homeric subject was reworked in the Byzantine era.
