The languages are systems that are constantly changing, for this reason in the Portuguese language the syntactic phenomenon of relative subordinate sentences is undergoing certain innovations. On the one hand, the relativization strategy considered standard is characterized by the movement of the relative pronoun (preposition + que) at the beginning of the subordinate sentence leaving a remainder in its place of origin. On the other hand, the “chopping” and “resumptive” relativization strategies are characterized by the loss of the preposition and the generalization of the relative pronoun que, which are still considered non-standard. This strategies are gaining the interest of numerous linguists. In this work, we will know the opinions from some of them, like Peres e Móia (1995) and Veloso (2013), Camacho (2012, 2013) and Santos (2014) among others, from generativist, functionalist and sociolinguistic theories. All of this will provide the reader knowledges about the status of the issue at present in all of varieties of the portuguese language, and it also allows to know the important use increased of the new strategies.
